Portland, OR

Our Mission.

We are collective of people, of all walks of life, interested in kids growing up healthy: mentally, physically, socially, and independent, and resilient. This requires a high-resolve at all ages to minimize screens, especially access to screens under 5 years, smartphones, video games, and social media. We embrace Anxious Generation Four Norms: 1. Delay smartphone to 9th grade+ 2. Delay social media to 16 (or better 18) 3. Phone free schools 4. More free play and independence. DIGITAL DEVICE BAN BELL TO BELL IN ALL PUBLIC SCHOOLS Oregon just passed a ideal bell-to-bell ban in all public schools to start Jan 1, 2025. Oregon Dept of Education (ODE) is providing guidance to all school districts. Oregon School Board Association (OSBA) is providing a model policy. Our coalition can help with the success of this electronic device ban with: 1. Aligning together to help EACH of our schools be successful 2. Educational opportunities for all stakeholders to learn about why this ban is critical through 1. Educational talks or films (Can't Look Away or Haidt webinar for teachers & parents) followed by panel discussions 2. Book Clubs on Anxious Generation 3. Webinars 4. Weekly Newsletters 2. Supporting Gov. Kotek's Ban through ODE and OSBA 3. Share knowledge of phone storage systems that work (phones stored in backpacks rarely works) 4.Monitoring success: surveys to school for admin, teachers, parents, youth MORE FREE PLAY, MORE INDEPENDENCE guided by LetGrow.org MINIMIZE SCREENS FOR KIDS UNDER 5 YRS We are parents, youth, caring community members, health and mental health providers, speech and language therapist, educators, librarians, coaches.....
