To Whom It May Concern,
We, the undersigned parents and community members, strongly support the implementation of a phone-free policy at [School/District Name], ensuring that phones and other personal electronic devices are stored away and inaccessible to students during the entire school day.
Our goal is to foster a school environment, from Kindergarten through 12th grade, that maximizes face-to-face human interaction. The research is clear: a bell-to-bell phone-free environment significantly enhances the learning experience and prioritizes the overall health and well-being of students. The presence of mobile phones, earbuds, and smartwatches distracts from educational efforts and limits opportunities for students to develop healthy social skills.
We support the implementation of the Phone-Free Schools best practice guidelines, as defined by the Phone-Free Schools Movement:
1. From arrival to the last bell, students will not have access to mobile phones, earbuds, or smartwatches. These devices must be turned off and stored securely—either in a designated locker or a lockable pouch such as the Yondr pouch. The specific storage method will be determined by the school, but these personal devices will remain inaccessible to students during the school day.
2. The phone-free procedure will be clearly communicated to all community members, and education opportunities will be provided to help students and families understand why a phone-free school day is beneficial. Research-based educational resources, like the Kids’ Brains and Screens course book, will be used to support this initiative.
3. Students who need to contact their parents during the school day can use the phone available in the main office. Similarly, parents can reach their children by calling the main office when necessary.
4. Exceptions will be made for students with documented medical conditions requiring phone access, as verified by a licensed medical professional, or for students with specific educational needs outlined in an IEP or 504 plan.
We believe this policy will create a more positive, focused, and supportive environment for all students, and we respectfully urge [School/District Name] to adopt this phone-free initiative.
Sincerely,
The undersigned

Common Questions

Everything you need to know about running a successful campaign.

Can I modify the template language?

Absolutely! While our templates provide proven messaging frameworks, you can customize details, add local context, and adjust tone to match your community's needs.

What if I'm not experienced with organizing?

That's exactly why we built this! Our templates include step-by-step guidance, proven language, and everything you need. Most successful organizers using Four Norms had zero experience when they started.

How do digital signatures work?

Parents sign using their name and email on any device. Signatures are legally valid for petitions and generate professional PDFs with signature pages for presentations.

How much time does this take?

Initial setup takes about 5 minutes. After that, most organizers spend 2-3 hours per week managing their campaign. Our automation handles the heavy lifting—you focus on building relationships.

What if no one signs?

Our templates have been tested in 50+ communities with consistently strong results. Plus, you get access to our community of organizers who share what's working. We also provide coaching calls to help troubleshoot.

Is this really free?

Yes! Starting a campaign is completely free. You can collect unlimited signatures and use all our basic tools. We offer premium features for power users, but most successful campaigns use only the free tier.
